Time Out Says
Mövenpick Ibn Battuta Gate can feel a bit cavernous, especially the huge atrium, off which you’ll find Sicilia. Unfortunately, this atmosphere extends to Sicilia, which would benefit from feeling a bit cosier. Interiors are a bit bland, but everything else about this restaurant is really very good. Service, in particular, is extra pleasant and attentive, and the creative food at reasonable prices makes this a nice spot for a casual meal. Interesting ingredients like truffle and porcini “top-soil” make an appearance on gnocchi dishes, or vanilla polenta with a selection of seafood or smoked ricotta and spicy crumble served with a spicy black chicken and Mantova pumpkin. Desserts, too, include elaborate creations like panna cotta with rosemary ice, strawberry jelly, rosemary oil emulsion, liquorice meringue and white chocolate ganache (as exquisite as it sounds). There’s a good selection of fresh and dried pastas, meat, fish and pizza, including white and Sicilian varieties. In fact, the menu is limited only in its selection of salads and soups, but there are far more interesting things to turn your attention to, anyway. It’s a shame that the wonderful food here doesn’t get more attention – we’d say it’s well worth a visit.
