Sketch Art Cafe
Time Out Says
On entering the converted villa, you turn left to the café area, which has small tables for two and larger options for bigger groups. A couple of show-stopping installations are dotted around the place, too. Turning right takes you to the working studio.
The all-day menu is extremely short and simple. A pictorial list – we wouldn’t expect anything less in an art gallery – of hot drinks include a couple of adventurous options like Spanish latte and Turkish coffee alongside the normal offerings.
You probably aren’t going to go here for the food alone. Only one breakfast option – an açai bowl, which is exactly as it should be with fresh strawberries, blueberries and banana plus a sprinkling of granola for crunch – is on the menu. Otherwise it’s a pick of seven desserts. Don’t miss the brownies, which are moist, rich and lip-lickingly good.
While at Sketch Art Café you are encouraged to illustrate paper coffee cups with colouring pencils and water colour paints. Give it your best shot as the most impressive ones are added to the hall of fame display. The studio is charged by the hour (from Dhs70) where you can hone your skills.
Coffee, cupcakes and a splash of creativity – tick.
