Time Out Says

Spinach-infused water served in test tubes, tamarind sauce in a syringe and a chocolate cake in the shape of a bar of soap – welcome to the wacky and wonderful world of molecular gastronomy at SpiceKlub.

This culinary craze of creatively crafted dishes is all the rage in Dubai, with purveyors of Indian cuisine leading the way.

SpiceKlub, brought to bustling Bur Dubai by way of Mumbai, is making tongues wag (and tingle, thanks to its intense flavours).

The delightful décor – complete with kites and rickshaw wheels hanging from the ceiling – sets the fun mood perfectly. There is plenty of style allied to the substance, too. The pani puri starter, presented in that do-it- yourself style with test tubes and a syringe so you can spice up the dish, may seem only a bunsen burner away from a full chemistry set, but has the flavour formula just right.

The paneer tikka masala, cubes of cottage cheese smothered in delicious masala sauce, gets full marks for taste and presentation. The soap cake – a decadent soap-shaped block of chocolate with dairy foam – is a fantastic palate cleanser. The food is so good we barely notice it’s meat-free and judging by the full house during our visit, plenty want to join this club.

The bottom line
Flamboyant presentation is matched by excellent flavours.
