Along with a new home came a revamped menu, part of which is by famed Chef Hari Ghotra. The South Indian selection features potato croquettes (bondas), korma, dhal, chickpea curry and more.
We opt for a platter with paneer pakora, bondas, satay and, incongruously, curry and fries. Still, that’s all the food groups covered so we crack on eagerly. It’s largely very tasty, even if the satayed meat is on the tough side. The bondas, though, are incredibly moreish.
We also tuck into the Captain’s Salad – a brilliant veggie option bursting with flavour thanks to a combination of cauliflower, aubergine, cucumber, garlic and parsley with a yoghurt, tahini and sumac dressing. Other staple options include classic pub grub such as wings, fish and chips, crab tacos burgers, pizzas and nachos.
All in all, Spike’s a top spot to refuel after a round, or for a casual bite if you’re in the area.
