Tania’s Tea House

A cute, twee, café with some interesting dishes

Time Out Says

Head to Tania’s Tea House and it’s as if you’ve stepped into Jumeirah’s very own Alice’s Wonderland – if Alice was fond of baby pinks and traded Mad Hatter China for herbal tea-filled porcelain teapots, that is.

The cute café is cosy, with swift, cheerful service that starts off with a showcase of its special tea jars, filled with more than 20 gourmet varieties.

Menus are all beautifully illustrated and boast a range of dishes from “super bowls”, to paleo guac on toast, cookies, cake batter crispies, and the as-it-sounds “cake in a tea cup”.

And with options including a chocola-tea, ne-tea-flix and chilled latte on the drinks menu, choosing can be a challenge.

It looks sugary sweet, but the teahouse shows attention to detail, with added greenery to create a balance.

Flavours are balanced too.  Avocado on toast is garnished with runny-yolked eggs and a deep purple flower. The masala popcorn is delicately spiced and the “all hail kale” salad is far removed from dull health food. The pièce de résistance? The Mermaid Toast.

With rainbow swirls of cream cheese and bananas, it’s a suitably kitsch, snappable dish (but very tasty).

For something light-hearted and fun, that still boasts decent food, this ticks the boxes.

The bottom line
Not just for Instagram.
