Texas Roadhouse (Dubai Mall)

A fun venue offering meaty eats that are easy on the wallet, if not on the waistline

Time Out Says

A cacophony of noise greets diners as they enter this Texan-themed chain: kids shouting, rock music playing, steaks sizzling and staff bustling between the tables to deliver meaty American grub. This place always seems to be busy, thanks to its lively atmosphere and relatively cheap eats: the lengthy menu offers something for everyone, except vegetarians (we couldn’t spot a single veggie meal). Dishes run the gamut from fried chicken to ribs, burgers, battered seafood and even calorie-laden salads. Steaks are basic but good value – the USDA beef comes in a handful of cuts, including rib-eye, sirloin and fillet. While the quality isn’t comparable to the five-star steakhouses, the meat is still filling and reasonably cooked, if a little dry; we also like the variety of sides (from apple sauce to Mexican-style baked beans). It’s just a shame that everything seems to be so calorific. Those on a diet – and anyone averse to deep-fried food – should steer clear.
