Time Out Says
Just as the name suggests, The Hamptons is inspired by the American seaside community that’s frequented by affluent New Yorkers. But this café is totally home-grown and located in a villa in Umm Suqeim. It does, however, live up to its US namesake with little touches like the towels from The One and Zara Home products in the bathrooms. And overall, the three-floor venue is charming and cosy, with pleasant outdoor seating as well. It’s also seriously popular, so much so that you’ll need to book a table during peak times. Not only is the place comfortable, but it also serves some beautifully presented and satisfying comfort food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, albeit at a fair cost. Expect to find truffle on your wedges and over your free-range eggs, wagyu in your burger and Roquefort cream with your rare roast beef. It’s not all fancy, but it’s certainly gourmet, with even the deep-fried chicken covered in buttermilk and served with home-made coleslaw and triple-cooked chips coated in truffle. It all comes in huge portions as well, so make sure you’re hungry before visiting. Keeping up the standards are the efficient staff who are professional and courteous but in no way intrusive. You might have to pay well for it, but a very good meal is indeed what you’ll have at The Hamptons.
