Time Out Says

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011
We feel sorry for The Junction being at Traders Hotel. Located along the same stretch of road as the JW Marriott and the swanky new Mövenpick must be hard, but it’s even more reason for them to step up their game. The decor is classy and understated, service efficient and there’s a lot of lively chatter about in the background. It’s just the food we don’t think is worth writing home about. The Arabic sampler for starters comes with dry kibbeh, forgettable cheese fatayer, shrimps, chewy mini-kebabs and, strangely, mini-samosas that stood out as they tasted freshly made, not frozen. And instead of houmous and mutabbal as one would expect in an Arabic platter, you get a salsa-like dip and mint chutney. The grilled salmon for a main dish, was supposedly spiced to be Cajun, so it sounded interesting but tasted disappointingly bland. An order of Thai chicken curry was worse, barely carrying any resemblance to its name tag. It seemed like a strange version of an Indian curry more than anything else. The Junction redeems itself with a lemongrass panna cotta. Okay, there was no hint of lemongrass, but you can still savour it, looking out the window at the new Mövenpick across the road.
