Time Out Says

Nestled in between several tiny restaurants on one of Karama’s quieter streets lies this branch of The Monk. What it lacks in space it makes up for in value and pleasant service. This is, after all, an eatery where the size of the portions allows four to dine for the price of two, and the quality of some of the food is equal to more costly and reputable restaurants. A prime example of this is the crispy Peking duck, an ample serving of succulent meat that comes with mini pancakes, hoisin and plum sauce which you put together yourself into a delicious wrap. Also try the stir-fried tenderloin – the beef, basil and garlic medley is rich and fresh in taste. The Monk does however have some mediocre meals that need improving. The prawns with mushroom and bamboo shoots are bland as are the Hakka noodles with chicken. Overall, you do get much more than you pay for here.
