The Spice Club

Popular Indian lunch spot Garhoud

Time Out Says

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011
It’s a welcome relief when a restaurant’s décor doesn’t try too hard to flaunt its ethnicity. The Spice Club relies on the ambient music and interiors that use subtle floral motifs and earthy colours, to convey the restaurant’s ‘Indianness’. As well as serving à la carte and buffet, The Spice Club also delivers take away meals during the lunch hours, the kebab and biryani ‘lunch combo’ deals being particularly popular. The chicken tikka masala is reasonable and the mutton rogan josh is quite hot and spicy. Vegetarians may also appreciate the thoughtful variety on offer. The kebabs are a slight let down – some chunks are cold, dry and lack any tang – yet others in the same platter are delightfully juicy. Overall, The Spice Club delivers a standard performance: though it does not rise to intensely exceptional levels, it is up to par with restaurants within similar price range.
