The W Grill
Wafi’s new steakhouse is competent, but lacks excitement
Time Out Says
Wafi’s surreal Egyptian aesthetics extend to W’s Grill, a sprawling new steakhouse that snakes its way around faux classical columns and opens out onto a covered terrace, which in turn spills onto a balcony. For those who choose to sit there, proceedings become all the more odd when the mall’s light show kicks in, showering the venue in a kaleidoscope of colour as the accompanying music jars with the restaurant’s own aggressive jungle soundtrack. Happily, the menu makes a little more sense, limiting itself to one page and featuring a modest number of starters, main dishes and steaks. The food itself is competently prepared, though lacks any sort of panache. We’d recommend visiting W’s for its brunch, which offers free-flow premium bubbly at a very reasonable price.
