Time Out Says
However, hungry is how you’ll stay if you visit Vibe at wellness hotel The Retreat Palm Dubai MGallery by Sofitel, as after about 20 minutes of being ready to order, we venture inside to search for a waiter.
The menu is packed full of healthy options, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes on offer – but though variety is the spice of life, the dishes themselves are notably bland.
All notions of healthy eating go out the window after 40 minutes of waiting for a salad. We’ve knawed our way through at least four bread rolls and have consumed our daily calorie intake in carbs alone. When the food does arrive (with the tasteless vegan burger landing a good 30 minutes before that elusive salad), the order is wrong.
We plough on anyway – until the “vegan” pizza, which stops us in our tracks, being laden with with regular cheese, which is confusing given the location.
Again, undeterred, we wait for the plant-based version to make it’s arrival, which it turns out isn’t a wise move. A cardboard-esque disc turns up, missing the tomato base, aubergine, onion, vegan cheese – basically the majority of the ingredients that make up the dish. It tastes as bad as it looks (which is extremely sorry).
A visit to Vibe leaves us with sour taste in our mouths – and not just from that dreadful excuse for a pizza.
