From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2008

Popular among grill-seekers, the Western Steakhouse does a few crucial things well, but lacks the trimmings to separate itself from the herd. The beef is consistently impressive, but a deviation from steak can be unpredictable. Rare lamb chops can range from amniotic to squash ball in texture, and straightforward accompaniments such as potato dauphinoise are disappointingly off the mark.

For dessert, the crêpe suzette is flamboyantly prepared at the table, but unfortunately the pancake tends to be drowned in orange juice. Where the Western Steakhouse ultimately falls down, however, is the price. The menu won’t burn a hole in your pocket, but it leaves you with the sinking feeling that you could have done better for your money. Dubai has too many superior budget meat options for this place to earn your repeat custom.

We’ve found that staff alternate between vacant and overbearing, and simple questions are passed up the chain of command rather than dealt with on the spot. If you’re set on a Dhs200 steak it’s not a bad place to find one, but if you’re looking for a bit more bang for your beef, it’s probably best looking elsewhere.
