Time Out Says
Amid the labyrinthine of alleyways that make up Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood, you’ll find this quirky little café inside the XVA Art Hotel. Step through the small Arabian-style doors and you’ll find yourself in a sheltered courtyard. The whitewashed walls are adorned with striking pieces of artwork, and there’s a tree in the middle of the courtyard with photograph negatives hanging from the branches. Vegetarian food dominates the menu, with a few fish dishes thrown in for good measure. It’s all heavily inspired by Arabian and Indian cuisine, so expect the likes of hummus, mezze, thalis and wraps. Breakfast is available all day as well, including a traditional Middle Eastern option. The only downside is the lack of staff, which results in slower service. But this is the sort of place where you’ll want to relax and not feel rushed. The hotel also houses a charming souvenir shop and a gallery that hosts regular exhibitions, which is another reason to pay a visit to this quaint café.
