Y by Yabani
Time Out Says
Situated in the ambient and pedestrian-friendly alleyway of City Walk mall, you’ll find this attractive-looking Japanese concept, born in Beirut, now with a branch in Dubai. Y by Yabani absolutely looks like a Japanese restaurant. The interiors are clean, bright, airy and modern. There is also something causal, unfussy and really winning about the service here. The menu itself is quite lengthy, and primarily sushi and sashimi focused. From the extensive selection of ‘new-style’ sashimi (many with a spicy, semi-Peruvian influence), the scallop tiradito is an elegant plate of pretty little scallop slices, simply topped with a red splotch of rocotto chilli and a single coriander leaf. From the wide selection of maki rolls, the mel maki, containing avocado, salmon and crab, is a delicious alternative to traditional sushi. The food, particularly the sushi, is not the height of Japanese cuisine. But it is pleasant, and there is something very satisfying about dining here.
