Yalla Momos

Nepalese dumplings worth travelling for, in the heart of Karama

Time Out Says

Venture down to Karama and down a non-descript side-street to Yalla Momos and all of the wonder that lies within.

It might not look like much from the outside (or the inside for that matter), but the casual eatery is always packed, with eager diners spilling out onto the busy street outside.

If you haven’t tried them, momos are Nepalese dumplings that are steamed or fried and stuffed with any number of delicious fillings.

As the name implies, the momos here are the main event – and there are more varieties than you can shake a stick at.

They’re served up on plastic plates with plastic cutlery (not that you’ll want to waste any time with that), and at Dhs13
to Dhs16 per portion you can afford to go all out.

Around half of the options are vegetarian and there are also chicken, buffalo, shrimp and mutton options available on the menu.
Don’t miss the buffalo version – they’re a massive hit, while the vegetable varieties are a highlight, too. The noodle dishes are tasty as well, but it’s the momos that’ll have you coming back.

These little dumplings are excellent and definitely worth travelling for. Once you do, it’ll be a journey you’ll take time and again.
