Lebanese food with a healthy twist and Dubai Fountain views

Time Out Says

Perfect for visitors, Zahr El-Laymoun serves up those two essentials any house guest will be expecting you to treat them to – tasty Levantine cuisine and views of The Dubai Fountain (oh, and the opportunity for a mammoth shopping expedition just next door – hello,
Dubai Mall).

That said, this is Lebanese food with something of a difference. For in place of your favourite fried kibbeh and golden chips, you’ll find that everything is baked, and there’s an emphasis on lighter dining. Fortunately, the food is none the worse for it.

Embrace the theme wholeheartedly and dive into a bowl of the fresh, tangy tomato and onion salad, while the Fountain dances to the sound of Arabic music in the background.

Grab one of the piping hot, puffed up breads and scoop your way through a bowl of the superb hummus Beyrouti, packing a real garlicky punch.

Mains aren’t quite as impressive, but it really is no matter. Mezze is the standout here, and there’s enough variety to please. You could easily spend an afternoon working your way through the menu, sitting in the sunshine and sipping tea as you watch tourists bumble happily by.

Unless that’s your dear old Dad, who’s wandered off and got lost again. Go and round him up – he won’t want to miss this

The bottom line
Tasty eats that aren’t just for tourists.
