Zaroob

Classic Levantine street eats served up in a vibrant, colourful setting

Time Out Says

Fancy a shawarma at 4am? Wherever you are, there won’t be one far away. And long-standing regional street eats spot Zaroob just so happens to have both ends of the city covered, with a 24-hour branch in both Dubai Marina and up at the northern end of Sheikh Zayed Road.

Service can be a little hit and miss, but it’d be churlish to expect to be constantly treated like a prince at prices like these.

Dishes span everything from shawarma hummus (do it) to classic rocca salad and stuffed falafel, but if you’ve never tried fateer, this is the place to do it. Kind of a cross between a stuffed manakish and a fluffy, layered paratha, these baked, rectangular beauties come stuffed with fillings ranging from cheese and mixed meat to Kraft cheese and sweet, sticky honey. And they’re perfect for literally any meal (or midnight snack) of the day.

Swankier, sassier Middle Eastern street food spots may have come along and stolen spotlight in the years since Zaroob set up, but it’ll always have a special place in our hearts for those after-dark eats.
