Zyara Cafe (Dubai Media City)

Good value Arabic food in the heart of Media City

Time Out Says

With a menu which comprises of pasta, chicken escalopes, salmon bagels and burgers, to define this restaurant as merely Arabic food would be misleading. With seating in either the shisha-filled front area or the more conventional restaurant space to the rear, it’s a lively lunchtime haunt, with Media City workers chatting animatedly over their lunch. The decor is shabby and slightly garish but this doesn’t spoil the bustling ambiance and authentic, if slightly chaotic Arabic atmosphere. Unfortunately the food is disappointing and while served swiftly and politely, suffers from school canteen levels of sophistication. The breads are unremarkable, the salads are lifeless and lacking depth of flavour and the hummous is non-descript. If you work nearby, it’s a perfectly acceptable place to meet colleagues for a catch up and you’ll find the service friendly and efficient. If it’s not on your doorstep however, we wouldn’t really recommend making a special trip.
