Dubai Festival City Mall and Festival Plaza to open on April 25

Following the announcement by the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management, Al-Futtaim will reopen its Dubai mall operations tomorrow (Saturday April 25), with limited trading hours.

Though not all stores will be trading, those that will reopen include both IKEA stores, Marks & Spencer shops and Robinsons department store. Hypermarkets, pharmacies and money exchanges will continue to trade as usual. Both the Dubai Festival City Mall website and Festival Plaza websites will be updated daily to reflect which stores are open.

Visitors to the malls must adhere to the UAE’s health and safety rules while in the malls, including the requirement that masks are worn at all times, hands are sanitised on arrival to the mall, and a physical distance of two metres is maintained from others at all time.

As per the directive from authorities, family entertainment, cinemas, gyms, prayer rooms, changing rooms and shisha services will not be available, and visitors over 60 years of age and children aged between three and 12 years old will not be granted entry to either mall.

Shoppers should also bear in mind the usual rules and social etiquette of Ramadan while out in public.

Timothy Earnest, group director of Al-Futtaim Malls said: “We continue to abide by all directives issued by the Dubai Government and welcome this decision to partially reopen our malls. We will operate in accordance with all guidelines to ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers and tenants. Since the beginning of this pandemic, we have all been in this together, collaborating with the Government to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff, customers and tenants, and with this opening, health and safety continues to be our number one priority. With this in mind, we implore all visitors to fully comply with the precautionary measures in place at our malls.”
