A four-day weekend is set to kick off in Dubai from Thursday August 30, and this year it coincides with the very middle of Dubai Summer Surprises 2020 – a citywide shopping festival bring all manner of sales and activities to the emirate.

Here are eight top Dubai Summer Surprises happenings over the Eid Al-Adha weekend.

Fly over the city for less with Seawings

Seawings Seaplane Tours has reopened just in time for Eid, and is offering 20 percent off all Dubai scenic tours for bookings made until August 9. Always wanted to see Dubai from the sky? Here’s your added incentive.

Get discounts at The Outlet Village

Dubai’s most heavily themed outlet mall, already home to discounted wares, will see stores offer up to 90 percent off a wide range of brands, exclusively during the Eid weekend. Parents can also free their hands up for carrying shopping bags by dropping kids off at the Safe Kids Summer Camp Square, featuring virtual reality games and dance classes. Spend Dhs350 at the mall and you’ll get to spin the wheel for a chance to win prizes including gift vouchers, staycations at Rove hotels and passes to Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Meet Modesh at Dubai Festival City

Is it a worm? Is it a jack-in-a-box-minus-the-box? Who knows – but Dubai Summer Surprises’ bright yellow mascot is back, and kids can meet Modesh and his new scientist friend Dana at Dubai Festival City Mall, where they’ll be hanging out opposite the mall’s new Festival Souk pop-up (with massive discounts on brands).

Save on clothes and meals at The Beach

From July 30 to August 8, shops and restaurants at The Beach, opposite JBR, will find a range of discounts including 40 percent off at River Island and 60 percent off at Roberto Cavalli. There’s also a Dhs90 set menu at Frateli La Bufala and buy one, get one free offers on shakes and hot dogs at Shake Shack.

See Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi live

Emirati singer Hussain Al Jassmi will be performing a special charity concert this Eid Al-Adha, taking place on Sunday August 1 at the city’s iconic Dubai Opera. The concert will feature Al Jassmi alongside vocalist Yara, and a special appearance from young singers of TV show The Voice Kids. Tickets start from Dhs495.

Try DSS menus at Ramusake and Stoke House

Popular Asian restaurant Ramusake is running a special Dubai Summer Surprises set menu, available every Sunday, where you can get a selection of street food dishes, plus drinks, for Dhs30 per person. At Trump International Golf Course, Stoke House restaurant is running a Dhs99 three-course menu, available daily, featuring soup or spring rolls, a main course and choice of dessert from either chocolate brownie with ice cream or carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

Watch 3D art being created at City Walk

Dubai’s most brightly lit shopping and dining destination is set to host brilliant live art events and exhibitions, kicking off this Eid and running through to the end of summer. From July 30 to August 31, Dubai Canvas @ City Walk will see renowned street artist Juandres Vera create incredible 3D artworks on the walkways of City Walk’s indoor courtyard. Famed for turning pavements into optical illusions, you may recognise his work from The Walk, in JBR, where some of his Dubai Canvas 2016 works are still in place. And that’s not all – UAE-based artist @artkal3 will perform a live display of Pendulum Painting every weekend, and you can watch the artist swing paint from a pendulum to create unique pieces. Finally, artist Yaroslava Deeb will be using sand, glitter and a projector to create live art that appears animated as she works.

Win at Nakheel Mall

Palm Jumeirah’s new mall has a whole range of promotions running during Dubai Summer Surprises. This Eid weekend, catch live performances by musicians, art exhibitions and the Ripe Market Pop-up on Friday and Saturday. Shoppers who spend Dhs250 in the mall can enter a raffle to win prizes including mall gift cards and cash rewards, with prizes totalling Dhs350,000 in value throughout summer. A one-off Nakheel Mall gift card worth Dhs25,000 is also up for grabs until August 8.
