It’s that time of year again. Your sunglasses are steaming up when you step outside, your hair has expanded by at least an inch by the end of the day and you can’t walk two steps without slipping out of your flip-flops. But that also means it’s time for Dubai Summer Surprises: seek your haven in the air-conditioned malls and they will make you welcome by slashing their prices, having huge giveaways and loads of entertainment. Plus, this year, loads more spas have jumped on the bargain bandwagon – well, how else would you soothe your tired shopped-out feet? The festival is already in action and it all ends on August 7, so, quick – grab your wallet and go.

Chances to win

As well as bagging bargains, you could be rewarded for spending with the various raffles going on throughout the city. You can win anything from Dhs25,000-worth of vouchers if you spend Dhs500 or more at Dubai Duty Free, 32” LCD TVs at hypermarkets if you buy Coca-Cola, Fanta or Sprite, or Dhs200,000-worth of shopping vouchers if you spend Dhs300 or more at Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre or Mirdif City Centre. Then there’s prizes worth Dhs5,000, dream holidays, cars and quadbikes if you spend Dhs200 at Festival Centre, an Infiniti FX 35 or luxury Sedan if you spend Dhs200 or more at Mercato Mall or Town Centre Jumeirah, or you could drive away in one of 14 luxury BMWs if you spend Dhs200 or more at malls across Dubai. Mall of the Emirates, Deira City Centre and Mirdif City Centre are doing their bit for the environment by going digital. Shoppers will now register their receipts electronically when entering raffles and will receive e-coupons by text.
