INDEX Dubai design show

Style highlights at the industrial and interior design show

1/2

INDEX at the Dubai World Trade Centre is without doubt the key industrial and interior design show in the region. Taking place from November 8-11, this year they’re unveiling 20 design innovations that are leading the pack, many of which are available in Dubai. Here’s our pick of the bunch, but be warned – innovative design comes at a premium (although high street-inspired versions are likely to emerge by next year).
The INDEX trade show is open to the public on November 10 from 4pm-9pm and November 11 from 11am-6pm. Tickets are Dhs50, available on the door. For info, see www.indexexhibition.com.

Bloom chair by Kenneth Cabonpue
Filipino designer Cabonpue was inspired by the blossoming of a flower when designing this chair. Sculpted with hundreds of stitches radiating from the seat’s centre, this visually stunning piece is also a textural delight.
Dhs6,550, available at Nakkash Gallery, Al Huda Building, Garhoud (04 282 6767).

Ciclotte exercise bike by Luca Schieppati
This minimalist bike is like the Bang & Olufsen of exercise. It’s beautiful, but it also works really well, with a faithful wheel action and a touch-screen display.
Dhs36,000, available at www.ciclotte.com.

Audrey stiletto-shaped mosaic bathtub
Love it or hate it, you have to admire the audacity of this giant high-heel bath tub from Italy.
From Dhs62,000, available at SICIS, Villa 12, Umm Al Sheif Street/Jumeirah Beach Road (04 395 3835).
