1 Bloomingdale’s: The first Bloomies outside the US opened in The Dubai Mall in February. The store’s selection of fashion and beauty goods is impressive, as is the home store and, of course, Magnolia cupcakes.

3 Iconic: Visiting this department store in Deira City Centre is sensory overload – in a good way. The Soho Style Market, full of indie knickknacks, has been our favourite part of the store since its launch in March.

4 Pottery Barn: Located in Mirdif City Centre, the Barn is full of classic, beachy decor items that could have come straight from the Hamptons, and it offers a particularly beautiful linen and quilt range. Open since March.

5 Dogwalk: The high-end dog boutique, spa and exercise centre on Jumeirah Beach Road is where Paris Hilton would take her dog if she was still in Dubai.

6 Symphony This high-end: designer fashion boutique feels luxurious and feminine, and it’s stocked with gorgeous cosmetics brands such as Kai and a range of interesting niche designers such as Jonathan Saunders (whose spring/summer ’11 Lara dress is pictured here), alongside Camilla Skovgaard, Jason Wu and Thakoon. Open since August in The Dubai Mall.

7 Ume: A women-only fashion and jewellery boutique in the Majara complex at Dubai Marina which launched in November, Ume stocks mature and refined fashion by labels Megan Park and Handwritten.

8 Victoria’s Secret: It’s the world’s most iconic lingerie brand and it now has a permanent home in the UAE. Open since December in Mirdif City Centre, women (and men) have been rejoicing across the city.
9 Bullets & Butterflies: A new boutique that opened in Mercato in December, B&B stocks men’s and women’s fashion with a rock edge. Within its walls you’ll find brands including Tokyo Milk, CCSkye, Ann-Sofie Back and more.

10 Decathlon: A French sports store in Mirdif City Centre, Decathlon opened in December and sells everything you’ll need for absolutely any sporting or outdoor activity you care to do in Dubai. It’s gigantesque – ooh la la!
