Blackberry Bold 9900 review

We check out the new Blackberry handset with touchscreen and Qwerty keyboard

From its thumb-friendly keypad to its surprisingly light and sleek feel (it’s the thinnest in the series to date), the 9900 is a black beauty worth holding. An obvious improvement is the multi-touch screen; there really is something liberating about touch and type. Powered by the latest BlackBerry operating system (OS7), the browser experience is a leap forward, as is the super-sharp screen thanks to Liquid Graphics. You can now record HD video, yet while the five-megapixel camera takes some fantastic shots, there can be a fair bit of noise in low light situations.

The Docs to Go app will keep workaholics sane and the 8GB storage means you don’t have to splash out on an extra memory card. We doubt anyone would replace their appy iPhone with the 9900, but we haven’t met a BlackBerry fan that doesn’t want to switch. Now if only they’d develop Instagram photo sharing for BlackBerry…
