You’ll love how it feels in your hand – light but not too skinny (it’s 9.4mm thin) – and it’s the right side of stylish (classy, but not OTT). Sony Ericsson’s new Ray sports a 3.3-inch touchscreen, an 8.1-megapixel camera with HD video, and runs on Google’s Android. It already has YouTube, Office and Facebook apps installed (with loads more available via a couple of taps), and the Music Player is a standout feature.
Photos taken using the camera are exceptional (as you’d expect from 8.1 megapixels) but, like most other camera phones, expect noise when shooting in low-light conditions. Also, this model doesn’t have a camera flash – instead there’s a ‘photo light’, which means you have to turn it on each time.
The Ray may take some getting used to, and all the extras can seem daunting if you’re not used to an Android phone but, like any good relationship, you may have to give it time.
