Buy fresh fish at dawn at the Fish souq

Not one for those with a sensitive nose, the fish souk is dirty, smelly and vibrant. Get out of bed before the sun rises, dress in waterproofs or clothes you are not particularly fond of and arrive at the fish market as the sun comes up. If you know your seafood, you are in for a treat. Find barrels of king fish, red snapper, rock cod, barracuda, tune, lobster, crab, king prawn, sea bream, squid, pomfrets, shark, mackerel, sardine and the local hammour fish. Watch expert shopkeepers clean and gut the fish and then haggle with them over its price.
