Go on a mall crawl

The definitive Dubai shopping experience is The Dubai Mall: an aquarium, a skate park, two fountains, licensed restaurants, department stores like Bloomingdale’s and Galeries Lafayette, access to the tallest building in the world, an ice rink and more than 1,000 shops mean it can easily swallow a whole day of your time. Honourable mentions go to Mall of the Emirates – which really was Dubai’s first ‘mega-mall’ and is, yes, home to Ski Dubai; Festival Centre for its great restaurants and oddly pleasing faux canal; Mirdif City Centre for its airport location and family-friendly set-up; Wafi for its ‘only in Dubai’ Egyptian theme and range of licensed restaurants and Dubai Outlet Mall for its bargain designer wares – we recently picked up Chloe trousers for a mere Dhs300.
