Organisers of this market at The Walk at JBR are looking for vendors selling vintage fashion, accessories, original art and photography. The markets run every Friday and Saturday 10am to 10pm and will cost Dhs3,900 for six months. Call to book your spot.

Global Village
The popular shopping and entertainment venue is now open again for winter, housing 124 pavilions from countries across the world, including Afghanistan, Jordan and Turkey. As well as a funfair, there will be vendors selling handicrafts and plentiful food options.

S*uce Design A Dress competition
Want to launch your own fashion label? One amateur designer will win the chance to create and develop a new collection to be sold at local boutique S*uce. To qualify, designers must submit three dresses that embody the theme of ‘monochrome pop’. Prizes also include admission to a London College of Fashion course in Dubai.

Malaak autumn/winter 2011 collection
The Dubai-based luxury label, known for its avant-garde abayas, has just launched a new range that includes tailored blazers. The jackets feature sharp silhouettes and modern embellishments such as studs and exaggerated shoulders. Snap up the pieces at the brand’s new flagship boutique in Jumeirah.

Mall of the Emirates celebrates National Day
From December 1 to 3, Mall of the Emirates will host a variety of UAE-inspired entertainment. Shoppers can view the huge electronic board of greetings, sent via SMS from mall-goers, and there will be an opportunity to learn about bedouin history and falconry.

Recycle your old Nokia phone for a good cause
Emirates Wildlife Society is running a month-long ‘Take Back’ recycling initiative in which Nokia users are encouraged to recycle their old models at Nokia stores in order to raise awareness of the region’s marine life. You could win one of 200 Turtle Adoption Packs, which include an adoption certificate for an endangered hawksbill turtle.

See sculptures made from recyclable materials at Mirdif City Centre
To celebrate the UAE’s 40th National Day, the mall will be displaying 20 works hand-made by students using recyclable materials. Shoppers who spend more than Dhs200 at any store within the mall will have the chance to vote for their favourite, as well as entering a draw to win daily cash prizes totalling Dhs1.6 million. The winning sculptor will receive 20 laptops for their school.

View a fashion-inspired photography exhibition at Wafi
Famous French photography haven Studio Harcourt is running a pop-up exhibition featuring portraits of fashion personalities including Sir Karl Lagerfeld at the soon-to-open Esmod Fashion Store. Personal photo shoots can also be arranged – call for appointments.
