Bobby Sager photography exhibition at THE One Fusion
Featuring a collection of black and white images from the American philanthropist and photographer Bobby Sager’s book The Power of the Invisible Sun, this exhibition depicts children in a number of different countries dealing with conflict and disaster.

Donate your old trainers
If you haven’t been to the gym since January last year (and realistically don’t plan to), then donate your sneakers to Dubai’s labourers. This charity drive, a collaboration between Dubai-based marathon runner Tori Leckie and local charity SmartLife, aims to provide labourers with sneakers to compete in the SmartCup cricket tournament in February. Donations can be made at Fortune Promoseven, Office 449, fourth floor, Emarat Atrium on Sheikh Zayed Road between 9am and 6pm, Sunday to Thursday.

Dubai Shopping Festival
Today is the first day of a month-long bonanza of sales and events taking place throughout the city. With more than 6,000 outlets participating, as well as stores at the Global Village complex, this year the event is expected to be bigger than ever. A variety of entertainment, including concerts, is scheduled throughout the festival. An opening fireworks show will take place on Thursday January 5 and will run along both sides of the creek to the lagoon at Festival Centre. Fireworks begin at 8.30pm and can be seen from various locations including the Festival Centre corniche. See right for deals. Locations across Dubai.
