There may still be a handful of universally loved cosmetics brands we still can’t get in Dubai, but thankfully we can finally cross Laura Mercier off that list. The much-coveted French make-up brand has just arrived at Harvey Nichols (04 409 8888). To coincide with its launch, the new beauty counter has unveiled the Art Deco Muse collection, featuring a palette of on-trend gold and bronze metallics, shiny red lip lacquer and blood-red nail varnish.
If cupcakes aren’t enough to entice you to Magnolia Bakery at The Dubai Mall (04 350 5440), perhaps the festive eats will persuade you to visit. The NYC-based bakery is churning out Christmas-inspired ginger-snap cookies during December, alongside its usual treasure trove of iced treats. The cookies are Dhs5 each – they’re the perfect combination of sweet and spice, and are best paired with a hot cup of tea and a Christmas jumper.
Finally, if you can’t justify spending a fortune on menial Christmas presents this year, we have the perfect answer to your shopping woes: feel-good buys. Luxe Italian brand Marni (04 354 9417) is selling T-shirts and tote bags (pictured) featuring cute drawings by underprivileged children from, Colombia, Tibet and Kenya. The children were invited to draw something relating to the theme ‘My Country’, and proceeds will go towards schools’ associations that encourage learning and creativity. The items, priced at Dhs575 for T-shirts and Dhs1,000 for bags, are available at the Mall of the Emirates store. Until next week, get shopping!
