New menswear, dresses for all occasions, and international designers land in Dubai

Gents looking for less mainstream threads should check out new Dubai-based menswear site Houmou.com. Inspired by both London hipster hood Shoreditch and tailoring district Savile Row, the brand fuses elements of edgy street culture with fine cuts and tailoring. You’ll find basics, casualwear and unique eveningwear. British-born designer Anoir Houmou says his designs deliver on Dubai’s work-hard, play-hard ethic.

While we’re on subject of online shopping, ladies can now get their dress fix from new Dubai-based site Thedressroom.com. Featuring designers such as Jovani, Tony Bowls, Carmen Marc Valvo and Mon Cheri, the shopping portal is your perfect go-to for dresses of all kinds, including day, evening, cocktail and partywear, weddings and events and prom and graduations. We like the fact that each category is separated into more detailed occasions, such as red carpet, mother of the bride and little black dresses.

Last but not least, designer duo Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos (pictured below) were in town recently to preview pieces from the autumn/winter 2013 collection of their Peter Pilotto brand for Matchesfashion.com. The party was held at ArtSpace in DIFC and was attended by artist Nadine Kanso and Salsali Private Museum director Ramin Salsali. That’s all for now – get out and shop!
