A local designer tie-up, an iconic event and a handy new shopping site

This week: a local designer tie-up, an iconic event and a handy new shopping site.

Looking for a cultural buy or quirky souvenir to celebrate the Holy Month? The Dubai Mall’s Level Shoe District (04 501 6690) is joining forces with Emirati designer Aljoud Lootah to produce 500 limited-edition canvas totes bags. The bag is available in black, white and gold and is priced at Dhs160. All proceeds will be donated to a local charity, which is yet to be decided.

Meanwhile, the mega mall is also preparing for the much-anticipated Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience, set to take place at The Dubai Mall from Thursday October 10, and new details on the event have just emerged. Organised in association with Vogue Italia, The Grand Atrium will host an exhibition featuring 50 Vogue covers throughout the event and a gala dinner for international celebrities aims to raise funds for local charity Dubai Cares.

Lastly, we’re slightly addicted to new US-based social media shopping site Fitting Room Social (www.fittingroomsocial.com). You list your height, weight and measurements, then tick off the labels you like, and it finds options that will be a good fit for your body. You can also offer advice to others.
