Fashion Forward returns to Dubai

Second season of fashion event confirmed for October, plus more insider news

This week: Fashion Forward’s second season, Brazilian-made footwear and new styles at local brand Nayomi.

After the success of the first season of new Dubai-based fashion event Fashion Forward, the four-day affair is coming back for round two from October 15 to 18. The second season will kick off during Eid Al Adha celebrations and will be supported by new local initiative Dubai Design District. Local and regional labels from the first event will be back to show their autumn/winter 2013 collections to Dubai’s fashion set, while some new names can also be expected.

Meanwhile, Brazilian shoe label Galibelle (050 456 8436) is now available in Dubai for the first time at a new pop-up store in Dubai Festival City Mall. It stocks retro-feel heels (pictured), wedges and flats with interchangeable straps in a range of colours and are a must-have accessory. Prices range from Dhs180 to Dhs550, while straps are Dhs65 to Dhs150. Head down there before September to take advantage of these economical finds.

Lastly, local lingerie brand Nayomi (04 339 8820), renowned for its elaborate Arabic undergarments, now stocks everyday cotton lingerie sets featuring polka dots and pretty baby-doll slips. Head down there to check out the new spring/summer collection. Until next week, happy shopping!
