A new make-up store, an oddly inspired jacket and design courses

This week: a new make-up store, an oddly inspired jacket and design courses.

Good news for makeup buffs, there’s a new cosmetics kid on the block: luxe Italian makeup brand Lord & Berry (052 906 4228) has opened its first store in the UAE in The Dubai Mall. Specialising in lips and eyes, the Milan brand is known for its current colour palettes and also stocks face care products, fragrances and makeup accessories. It’s currently stocking items from the Black Wardrobe collection, which includes top-of-the-line black make-up eye pencils, shadows and mascaras. Head there to stock up on quality basics.

Meanwhile, we’re a tad surprised with one particular piece in Dubai-based designer Franklin Eugene’s (04 431 3535) latest collection. The local men’s designer has created a hooded, three-button slim fit jacket inspired by the shooting of Trayvon Martin. The ‘Mr Martin’ jacket has a semi floral twist and is being sold for a whopping Dhs2,500.

Lastly, Chelsea College of Art & Design (00 44 207 514 8028) is returning to Dubai in September 2013 to host interior design and decorating short courses. Taught by London-based tutors and industry professionals, the courses are for both new and practicing interior designers looking to update new skills, as well as those pursuing interior design and decorating as a hobby. Happy shopping!
