The London College of Fashion is coming to Dubai

New bag and fashion design courses to be hosted in the region

Investment gems, handbag design courses and Dia-style teams up with Shopbop.

Looking for unique investment jewellery that no one else is wearing? If Tiffany’s, Cartier and H&M are too mainstream for your liking, you can now get one-off pieces delivered straight to your door with jewellery boutique Di Donna, www.di-donna.com, which now delivers to the UAE for the first time. The brand stocks pretty designs, such as chunky statement rings with golf-ball sized precious gems, drop earrings and necklaces. Some of the styles are a little overdone, but there are some simple designs worthy of your attention.

Meanwhile, London College of Fashion (www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/middle-east) is holding short courses in Dubai for budding handbag designers and fashion designers. Running from September 20 to October 1, the Handbag Design course is tutored by Ann Saunders and will help students research and understand the market, current trends, fabric selection, as well as where to manufacture your collection. The Fashion Drawing course aims to teach students how to express designs figuratively and build confidence with pencil and paper. Plus, get a ten percent discount when you book online using the code LCF-ME-10.

Lastly, local Middle East fashion store Dia-style (www.Dia-style.com) is now stocking fashion and accessories from popular US retailer Shopbop (www.shopbop.com). The partnership with the luxe online store will add more than 15,000 items to Dia-style’s already 50,000-strong portfolio of ready-to-wear fashion goodies and it’s the first time Shopbop items are available to buy online in Arabic. Specifically, look out for the jeans and jewellery.
