Dubai style news

A fashion-filled October and charity happenings at the BurJuman mall

October is billed to be the month of fashion in Dubai, with prestigious design school Domus Academy (www.dubai.domusacademy.com) set to host a styling course led by Italian celebrity stylist Ildo Damiano. The course joins a fashion-packed schedule of events and workshops including London College of Fashion Dubai short courses, World of Fashion, Fashion Forward and the debut of Fashion Week. The current People Editor at Grazia Italy and mentor of Project Runway Italy, Ildo hosts the Fashion Styling and Image Creation course between October 11 and 14, which is aimed at stylists and designers who would like to enter international markets.

Meanwhile, Mall of the Emirates’ annual style festival World of Fashion (04 409 9000) kicks off on October 15 for 11 days of events open to the public, including up to 20 catwalk shows from contemporary international designers, beauty makeovers and exhibitions. A ‘mystery legendary star and fashion icon’ is also set to make an appearance, with Lebanese pop queen Nancy Arjam the big name at last year’s event.

Lastly, BurJuman (04 352 0222) is launching its Safe & Sound breast cancer awareness campaign next month, with a line-up of charitable and health-focused events including a Pink Book Sale from October 17. Shoppers can pick up titles for as little as Dhs5 and all proceeds go towards breast cancer awareness and supporting patient care.
