This week: Fortnum & Mason Baby gifts and two new openings in Dubai’s malls.

The sartorially supreme but maternally clueless can take the stress out of shopping for baby showers with stylish British department store Fortnum & Mason (04 388 2627) now dealing in the business of hampers for bubs. Each is equipped with teddy bears, rabbit booties, cashmere baby blankets, baby wash and other goodies, or you can customise your own. Though quite likely to break the bank at Dhs1,700, it could increase your chances of winning some serious brownie points.

Meanwhile, London College of Fashion-trained shoe and accessories designer Charlotte Olympia Dellal (04 399 4122) was in Dubai this week to unveil her first store in the Middle East at Mall of the Emirates. Born in South Africa to a Brazilian model and a property developer, the designer held a private party at DIFC’s stylish No.5 Lounge and Bar Terrace for Dubai’s fashion media.

Lastly, French perfume connoisseur Frederic Malle has launched a pop-up counter at Bloomingdale’s (04 350 5333) to showcase his original series of fragrances Editions de Parfums as well as his latest blend The Night, containing natural Oud.
