If tiaras were handed out for theatrical fashion statements, one obvious choice for a winner would be the lively, perma-pouting Paris Hilton. As if she wasn’t busy enough searching for the latest must-have accessory (a best friend) in Dubai, the trendy socialite has also opened her very own store at Festival Centre, full of pieces that reflect her buoyant personality.
Of course this is Dubai, so although the store carries a range of stylish and sophisticated pieces, in keeping with Paris’s image, it stays away from anything too scandalous or risqué. You’ll be overwhelmed by the number of handbags on display. There are faded faux python and crocodile, canvas and logo fabrics; a range of designs that comes together to create a collection of bags for every occasion. As for the colour palette, it’s definitely summer savvy, with classic champagne, gorgeous greys, pink panache and whimsical whites. The purses and showy shoulder bags reveal the store to be hip and trendy as well as chic and sexy. There are bags everywhere, and that’s great for us, as the variety is eye-popping. Have a good rummage and you are sure to find something suitable.
As for the store fit-out, here’s what you’ll find. A black entrance combined with a voguish white interior lends the place a classy vibe, and it’s a look that we reckon isn’t going out of fashion any time soon. Elegant chandeliers, bronze wallpaper and striking spotlights provide a refined ambiance through which shoppers are transported to Paris’s world of glamour. And, of course, there are life-size images of Paris posing with her must-have handbags.
The theme for the in-store collection is confidence, reflecting Paris’s booming popularity over here. And, it seems, she is returning the love, having already judged Dubai to be ‘classier than Las Vegas’. Judging by our visit, the relatively new label seems to be gaining in popularity quickly, as there were plenty of shoppers bustling to find their way to the store. Let’s wait and see if it is a temporary fling or blossoms into a long-term romance. Our guess is it will be the latter.
