Cityland Mall: World’s first nature-inspired shopping centre on track to open in Dubai

Cityland Mall will have its own 200,000 sq ft Central Park inside

We love a spot of retail therapy and who doesn’t love being at one with nature?

Soon you’ll be able to rustle through the rushes with your shopping bags in hand at the new Cityland Mall, which is on track to open towards the end of the year.

Back in 2016 we told you about plans for the world’s first nature-inspired shopping mall in Dubai and we are happy to report that the wheels are well and truly in motion.

Construction of the mall is ticking along merrily and 60 percent of the project is already completed according to the developers, Cityland Group.

Leasing for the mall is also going well, with 50 percent of retail spaces already spoken for – which is excellent news for the shopaholics among us.

Construction of the Carrefour hypermarket (which will be the largest in Dubai) is almost finished and will be handed over by the end of next month, while VOX Cinemas and kids’ indoor amusement park Fabyland are also looking to be open in the next six to eight weeks.

By the end of the second quarter of the year, the site will be open for the majority of the mall tenants to start fitting out the shops, with completion of the whole project expected in quarter four.

The landscaping contract for Central Park botanical garden has been awarded to Miracle Garden Landscaping, the company behind the world class landscaped projects such as Dubai Miracle Garden and Dubai Butterfly Garden.

The 200,000sq ft green space will provide a unique sensory experience for shoppers and has been designed to accommodate 7,000 shoppers at a time in its vast expanse.

Fahimuddin Sharfuddin, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Cityland Group, said, “With consistent progress on both the construction and leasing side, we look forward to launching Cityland Mall to the public during the fourth quarter of this year and add a unique dimension in terms of retail to the UAE market.

“We have received strong interest from retailers and we are working to conclude the leasing activities by adding an additional 30% of leased retail space by year-end. We anticipate the balance of the retail area to be fully committed by end of Q1 2019.”

As well as over 100 fashion stores, including Matalan, Riva Fashion and Ipekyol, there will also be over 20 places to eat in the food court area and 22 casual dining options with outdoor terraces at Central Park.
