The Government is cutting supermarket prices by 50 percent for a month to celebrate the International Day of Happiness.
Starting Tuesday March 20, it’s time to get those shopping bags ready and make space in that fridge for some incredible offers.
The price cut will cover more than 600 stores across the UAE for a whole month.
The reduction has been agreed with representatives of hypermarket chains and the Ministry of Economy, and will apply to thousands of goods ranging from vegetables to toothpaste. Exact details are yet to be confirmed.
Hashim Al-Nuaimi, director of the consumer protection department, revealed that between March 20 and April 20, the cost of some daily essentials will be reduced, according to a report by Arabic newspaper Al Bayan.
The United Nations' International Day of Happiness is, you guessed it, a day about being happy. It all started back in 2013 as a way to recognise the importance of happiness in the lives of people around the world.
With prices cut in half, it will certainly be a day of happiness for shoppers in Dubai.
