Dubai’s Gold Souk is getting a major revamp

The tourist hotspot in Deira will see a list of improvements

If you thought the Gold Souk in Deira was already sparkling with all of its jewellery and atmosphere, just wait until you see it after its revamp.

Dubai Municipality is planning to give the tourist hotspot a facelift to make it even more appealing for visitors.

Some of the touches being added include ventilation, lighting, smart signage and even umbrellas to keep everyone nice and cool.

Inspectors will also sample the gold and jewellery to ensure customers are getting exactly what they (literally) bargained for.

Dubai Central Laboratory (DCL) will test the merchandise using the latest technology.

Architectural Heritage Department pointed out the importance of updating the spot to attract more tourists as well, all the while keeping its authentic architecture and all round traditional vibe.

Shops at the Gold Souk are open from 10am to 10pm from Saturdays to Thursdays, and 4pm to 10pm on Fridays.

We can’t wait to see the Gold Souk’s makeover, and to touch up on our barter skills once again.

Speaking of overhauls, the Time Out Dubai award-winning Japanese restaurant Okku has reopened its doors in The H Dubai after a three-month break.
Open daily Sat-Thu 10am-10pm; Fri 4pm-10pm. Sikkat al-Khail Street, Deira.
