New Dubai half-marathon announced

It’s the first we’ve heard of this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge, and we’re starting to get in the mood for more of the city’s excellent 30x30 exercise drive.

The City Half Marathon, which will be held in October, is a brand-new addition to Dubai’s ever-growing roster of activities, as the Dubai Fitness Challenge helps make the city’s the world’s most active, and to increase exercise participation across every age group and demographic.

Last year more than 1 million Dubai residents took part in the challenge, which throws down the gauntlet to the city’s residents to participate in 30 minutes of fitness every day for 30 days. Whether it’s walking, swimming, spinning, yoga, cross fit, football or anything in between, there were more than 8,000 free activities for residents last year.

Now, the new half-marathon will take place in DIFC on Friday October 25 with a brand-new route showing off one of the world’s most important and most photographed financial districts. It will start in front of the Gate Building, and take runners and spectators through the district’s landmarks, with cracking views of the Dubai skyline throughout.

But, if you thought this was an event for the fitness enthusiasts then fear not, because 5km and 10km options will give casual runners across six different age groups the opportunity to get involved.

Participation starts from Dhs125 for the 5km run, Dhs175 for the 10km run and Dhs275 for the full 21km run.

Registration is open now, so why not get this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge off to a running start? Visit to register.
