Ruud Gullit to headline massive charity golf event

A massive charity golf day is coming to Dubai that is not only for a great cause, but also has some phenomenal extras chucked in, too.

One of the biggest charity golf events in the country is arriving at Emirates Golf Club on Thursday September 19, with the Swing Against Cancer Golf Series making the DSA Open available for the emirate’s sports fans.

And if you want to head along to play, non-Emirates Golf members can get a full 18 holes, plus a two-hour dinner and drinks package, and a Q&A with one of football’s most legendary, iconic players – Ruud Gullit.

The Ballon d’Or winner (which is FIFA’s award for the best player in the world), pretty much won the lot during his career, including the 1988 UEFA European Championships with the Netherlands, as well as the Champions League and multiple other titles during his career with clubs including AC Milan and Chelsea.

He’s going to be taking to the tee on the day, and will also be talking about his playing and management career during the dining event later in the evening.

Also up for grabs is a place at the DP Would Tour Championship Pro-Am event alongside the likes of Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy, if you prove yourself to be the best player on the day, and then win the subsequent finals day at Jumeirah Golf Estates on Thursday November 7.

You’ll also get some new gear courtesy of local retailer Golf Superstore, just for pitching up.

For a round of golf and the evening event, prices start at Dhs695 for Emirates Golf Club members, Dhs795 for EGF members and Dhs845 for non-members. Tickets just for the evening event with a barbecue and two-hours of drinks comes in at Dhs495.

All proceeds will go to charity, to help those recovering from cancer around the country.
Prices vary. Thu Sep 19, noon. Emirates Golf Club, Emirates Hills, info@swingagainstcancer.com
