Trendy fitness centre Warehouse Gym has set up shop in Springs Souk, and we’ve been along to check it out.
It’s the fifth offering from the company – which has popular branches in Al Quoz, JBR, Business and most recently d3.
The original Warehouse opened in Al Quoz five years ago, and is distinctive for its urban industrial vibes.
This was followed by the second opening at The Beach, opposite JBR, which has an indoor gym and a rustic outdoor training area on the beach.
The third outpost at Business Bay aims to reflect the thriving business hub that surrounds it, with sleek modern designs and top of the range facilities. The d3 version has bright murals and an artsy feel.
The new branch in Springs Souk is the biggest yet – with 16,000 square feet of open gym space.
And for regulars of the brand, the newest member of the family will be familiar. The gym walls and coffered ceiling are covered in raw-stamped concrete, with light wells in different parts of the ceiling to create an underground feel. There are also massive mirrors and a concrete columns marking out different areas, such as Crossfit and cardio areas.
The gym is centred around two platforms that will host boxing and TRX sessions. There’s also an in-house café.
And if you get in quick the gym is offering a special price of Dhs399 – rather than the regular price of Dhs499 – for a limited time, and members can work out at all five venues.
It all comes at a great time, too, as the Dubai Fitness Challenge is kicking off on Friday October 26.
The initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government, intends to make Dubai the most active city in the world.
Last year was massive, and this year it’s promised to be even bigger and better – with a full 30 days of activities across the city.
Participants can track their performance on the Dubai Fitness App and help make Dubai “the most active, healthiest, happiest, smartest city on the planet”.
The event last year encouraged 786,000 citizens and residents of all ages and fitness levels to commit to 30 consecutive minutes of daily physical activity for 30 days.
Various challenges and events were held across the city to aid this, and the same will happen during this year’s month-long festival.
This year, as Dubai continues its mission to be the most active city in the world, the goal is for more one million participants to take part.
We’ll see you at the gym.
Open Sun-Thu 5.30am-11pm, Fri-Sat 8am-10pm. Springs Souk, The Springs, www.whgym.com.
