Dubai Fitness Challenge 2019: Massive vertical race announced

The Dubai Fitness Challenge is back, and residents across Dubai limbering up and getting ready to undertake 30 consecutive days of exercise - let us quickly grab our inhaler.

If you’re looking for ways to meet your 30-minute daily goal during the Dubai Fitness Challenge, there’s plenty going on around Dubai (including this weekly Dhs30 bootcamp). But if you’re looking for something a bit different, then a vertical race is set to take place as part of Dubai Fitness Challenge on Friday October 25.

Taking place at Jumeirah Emirates Towers, the Dubai Holding SkyRun will see hundreds of runners and athletes run for charity, with proceeds going towards the Al Jalila Foundation.

Set over 52 floors at the Downtown Dubai location, the course spans 1,334 steps and sees the SkyRun join the Vertical World Circuit, a series of elite runs that sees the world’s top vertical runners traverse the world's tallest buildings, from London to Shanghai.

“We are thrilled to launch the city’s official vertical run to mark our contribution to this year’s Dubai Fitness Challenge in support of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai to help transform the emirate into one of the most active cities in the world," said Amit Kaushal, Group Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Holding.

"The 2019 edition is recognised as the fifth-highest iconic skyscraper race and the only official vertical race in the Middle East – joining a circuit of prestigious towers in world-class cities such as New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Seoul.”

Registration for the race costs Dhs262.50 per person, and kicks off at 7am for the first race, with a second race taking place at 8am. You can register as part of Dubai Fitness Challenge by clicking here.

You’ll even get breakfast afterwards, can’t say fairer than that, can you?
