Time Out Says

The promise
Pastels Salon promises that the art on our nails will last up to two weeks without chipping.

Step by Step
We start by choosing our nail art design from a portfolio of festive patterns. With Christmas just a month away, we opt for a more subtle design and decorate just two of our nails with a festive image and leave the others bright red. Our session starts with a classic manicure – our nails are filed, buffed and shined and any excess skin removed. Nail by nail, the gelish red polish is added and hardened using a UV light. Once the red base is applied, our technician starts to add the pattern – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – on a gold polish background so that the outline is visible. A final top coat of clear polish is added to seal the manicure.

The Result
Our nail art attracts a lot of attention (perhaps because we are wearing Christmas polish in mid-November) and lasts pretty well over the next two weeks, however, the two designed nails aren’t as durable as promised – they start chipping after just two days.

Pros
Staff at the salon are very creative and will suggest a range of festive designs.

Cons
Depending on your daily routine, the nail art may chip easier than the gelish polish.
