Time Out Says

The Promise
This discipline combines yoga with the principles of what an MMA fighter needs during his practise – balance, focus and the ability to kick hard and fast.

Step By Step
As soon as we step into the adorable Piloga, we know this isn’t going to be an average yoga class. There’s character at every corner, be it the turquoise wall covered in yogic sketches, or a door that asks you to “follow your destiny”. Our MMA yoga teacher, Alison MacLaughlin, begins the class with repetitive kicks, arm-strengthening movements and hip stretches to Eye Of The Tiger. We then focus on movements that open up the hip and shoulder area, before cooling off.

The Result

Despite being a regular yogi (and a regular at Body Pump and bootcamp sesions), we feel the adrenaline rushing after this hour-long class – more than we have at others. The next day, our shoulders, back muscles and hips are very sore.

At the end of this session, your heart will be pumping and you’ll have had an intense calorie-burning hour – unlike a regular yoga class.

If you’re a die-hard yogi and you’re expecting a rejuvenating, deeply relaxing yoga class, don’t attempt this.
Dhs80. Tue 7.30pm-8.30pm.
