Ladies, after all those months of demanding training sessions and exhausting workouts, it’s time to test just how tough you really are.
The XDubai Spartan Women’s Race is making a return on Saturday October 27, which gives you plenty of time to hone that fitness before the big race at Dubai’s Jebel Ali Racecourse.
This year’s race is bigger than ever before, with nearly 2,000 women expected to take part. There will be two different courses consisting of various “signature Spartan obstacles,” including a burpee zone and a rope climbing wall.
The first course is a 5km sprint packed with more than 20 obstacles, while the 13km super course has more than 25 different obstacles, along with a tougher and more rugged terrain to get through.
Basically, each course is designed to make you sweat.
Each length will also feature different “Elite” and age group categories for all those who like a bit of competition. Competitors will be able to test their mettle against each other, while the Elite racers will be in for a chance to win cash prizes, and some glory.
The little ones aren’t forgotten about, as the Spartan Kids’ Race will also be taking place. Open to boys and girls, the courses range from 800m for kids aged four to six, 1.6km for kids aged seven to nine and 3.2km for those aged ten to 14.
If it’s anything like last year’s it’s sure to be tough, but ladies can prepare for it every Saturday at the Dubai Sports City Indoor Football Pitch, from 10am until 11am. To nab yourself a spot though, attendees should be there by 9am.
Set up by XDubai and Spartan Arabia, the event will take place during Breast Cancer Awareness month, so funds will be donated to Al Jalila Foundation to support breast cancer patients and fund ongoing research.
“Last year was a monumental year for the XDubai Spartan Race with a series of firsts including the first women’s Spartan Race to be held in the Middle East and Africa region,” said manager of XDubai Mohammed Javad.
“The feedback from women who participated in that race – many participating in a Spartan Race for the first time – was nothing short of incredible.”
