Take on the super sports triathlon at Al Mamzar Beach Park

The big race will have an Olympic category with a 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run

Do you fancy yourself a jack of all trades and master of all sports? You can see if that’s true at the super sports triathlon over at Al Mamzar Beach Park this weekend (Friday October 19), and all ages are invited.

The 2XU Triathlon will feature running, cycling and sprinting at four various levels, including ones for the sprinters and one for the marathon runners.

For those who like to finish races post-haste, the super sprint group will include a 75m swim, 8km cycle and 2.5km run, while the slightly longer sprint event will have participants take on a 750m swim, 24km cycle and 5km run.

Younger athletes aged 12 and below can also test their mettle with the junior super sprint, 180m swim, 8km cycle and a 1.25km run.

If you fancy yourself as an Olympian, take on the fittingly named Olympic course, consisting of a 1.5km swim, a 40km cycle and finishing off with a 10km run. That home stretch will look glorious.

Each of the categories can be done as a relay as well, split into teams of three, meaning you can pick your best runner, cyclist and swimmer for the job.

If you’re tough enough to cross the finish line, you’ll get a finishing medal, a downloadable certificate to show off to all your friends along with a 2XU T-shirt. Oh, and fruits and refreshments to keep up those energy levels.

Timings will be kept for those looking to beat their personal best, along with an award ceremony for those who place in the top three.

Be quick though, as registration for the event ends at midnight tomorrow (Monday October 15). Tickets are priced Dhs330 for adults, while the juniors aged 18 and below are Dhs250.

It’ll be tough, but there will be water and aid stations placed throughout the venue so you can stay hydrated.

You can check out the full schedule and when each race officially starts over at www.supersportsuae.com.

Spurred you on? There are loads of events for the competitive taking place over the next few months, including the gruelling XDubai Spartan Race over in Hatta, along with the ladies only XDubai Spartan Women's Race on October 27.
